Launching activation at Sebring as Guy Cosmo returns to IMSA

Sebring, Fla. (12 November 2020) - Former Asian Le Mans Series champion Guy Cosmo will return to IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship competition this weekend at Sebring International Raceway as he joins Performance Tech Motorsports in the LMP2 category. The outing marks Cosmo’s first race Stateside on board a current-specification LMP2 Prototype as he joins the IMSA season-finale event this Saturday (NBCSN 10 AM ET live).

The Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring will also see Cosmo-Sport, Inc., Cosmo’s motorsports management and driver coaching company, launch a new initiative with fan-tech company FanCompass, the leaders in digital global fan engagement, 1st party data capture, and sponsorship activation.

Cosmo, who will pair with Patrick Byrne and Don Yount in the No. 38 Performance Tech Motorsports entry, is utilizing the Sebring outing as a first step forward with FanCompass as it continues to explore the opportunities that motorsport can provide.

Having established programs with global sports clubs and national leagues including EPL, NFL, MLB, MiLB, USL, NCAA, as well as esports teams, the FanCompass platform can be integrated into a property website to deliver measurable value to sponsors as well as an improved experience for fans.

“I’m thrilled to finally be launching this relationship with FanCompass. We’ve been in conversation together for some time now and when this Sebring opportunity arose, we decided to move forward to explore what this might look like in IMSA and capitalize on the huge following for this historic event,” said Cosmo, who won the 2018 Asian Le Mans Series LMP3 championship alongside Byrne. “This is a bit exploratory but we are eager to show this audience what is possible and in turn to build a program that will be useful for other sponsors in the sport to be able to extract value in a meaningful way.”

Pairing its return to IMSA with the new initiative, Cosmo-Sport has established a bespoke fan zone at www.guycosmo.com/fanzone to give fans the chance to participate in fun trivia and prediction campaigns and also enter to win some special Sebring-focused prizes.

“The entire FanCompass team is delighted with this partnership and the opportunity to work directly with the talented Guy Cosmo,” says Lisa Fahey, President of FanCompass.  “We are excited to see our technology elevate the Guy Cosmo experience for both his devoted fans and sponsors alike, and look forward to exploring new opportunities together in the digital space for motorsports.”

With a 2020 racing season that didn’t go to plan following the pandemic, Cosmo is eager to get back to work as he prepares for the 12 Hour.

“We were able to test the car recently and it went really well.  The Oreca 07 is an absolute rocket and a very capable machine.  It’s truly a blast to drive, so I am absolutely counting down the hours to get back to Sebring,” said Cosmo. “We’ve got a strong lineup with Patrick and Don, and Performance Tech knows these cars inside and out so I’m hoping we can close out what’s been a tough year with a big result. I’m also hopeful our fans will enjoy the new Guy Cosmo Fan Zone and we’ll have some positive take aways to build on for FanCompass after this weekend as well.”
